The establishment’s reaction to the 2010 election results (which was, TEA Party revolt returned a large Republican majority to the House) was to rein in the upstarts, to show them how things are done in Washington. Which is, freshmen to the back of the bus, sit down, shut up, do as you’re told. We are the establishment and we know better.

At that time I forgot to collect the links that prove this is what happened, and of course I have run into doubters who do not believe this is what happened.

This month it is happening again, the story is the same, which is that our dear old friend Boehner is purging conservatives from important positions on the various committees in the House. But this time I am collecting links:

IN CASE YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM IS:

The GOP’s Brand Suicide | TheBlaze.com (by Wayne Allym Root)

After they compromise, they lose the next election. Why does this happen? Because when a Republican raises taxes, he loses at least 10% to 15% of conservative voters who are angry and disillusioned at the decision; he kills the enthusiasm of his remaining supporters; he doesn’t gain a single Democrat voter (if a voter supports tax increases, they’ll always vote for the Democrat); and he hands ammo to his next opponent to destroy him. It’s brand suicide- a losing decision on all levels.

The GOP’s job is not to assist Obama in crippling small business owners and job creators…in destroying even more jobs…in damaging the U.S. economy even further. If Obama wants to do that, let him commit economic suicide alone — and accept all the blame.

But to willingly kill your own brand and help Obama damage the economy- the GOP can’t really be that stupid, can they?

YES, the establishment CAN be and IS that stupid. Remember, one the biggest “progressives” of all time was Teddy Roosevelt. Since FDR, the “Republican” mantra about creeping socialism was, “me too, but slower.” Democrats were the “idea men,” and when they made a bad enough mess of things, Republicans were allowed back in as the “competent managers” — of the gradual descent into the socialist / fascist hell that Obama is now trying to give us the final push into. Not that he has to push all that hard…
